The exhibition’s scenographic design is characterized by a clean design that highlights the visual strength of the artist’s photographs. The backlit images are presented in large formats and suspended by cables, creating a free and fluid circulation throughout the space. This use of cables creates a sense of weightlessness and emphasizes the photographic content.

The exhibition’s atmosphere was planned to reflect the vibrant palette typical of Firmo’s photographs. The gallery walls were painted in saturated tones, such as yellow and orange, creating an immersive environment that echoes the intensity of the images. This expressive use of color not only complements the artworks but also reinforces the photographer’s visual narrative, as he frequently employed chromatic contrast to highlight the Black identity and Brazilian essence of his subjects.

The catalog was produced on the occasion of the exhibition Walter Firmo: In the Verb of Silence, the Synthesis of the Scream, inaugurated at IMS Paulista in April 2022. The publication features the works included in the exhibition along with a selection of texts authored by Firmo himself.
