Abraham Palatnik: Experimentation/Enchantment

Abraham Palatnik: Experimentation/Enchantment is the most comprehensive monograph ever published on the artist. The book seeks to reaffirm the innovative nature of his work, broadening and renewing the dialogue around Palatnik’s practice, with an extensive selection of archival images and artworks, alongside both historical and previously unpublished essays.

The Aparelho Cinecromático [kinechromatic apparatus], one of Palatnik’s most important series, served as the starting point for the graphic design. The transparency of printed tracing paper was used as a device, drawing a direct analogy to the materiality of his works. This element appears on the dust jacket and at the openings of sections and texts, partially revealing the content beneath. On the cover, this dialogue is reinforced through the use of the BallPill typeface–rigidly geometric and idiosyncratic, like the pieces of a mobile–echoing the geometric shadows cast by Palatnik’s apparatuses and other kinetic works.
