anri sala

Anri Sala’s work references music and cinema. On the book’s front and back covers, the typographic block used for the artist’s name features a cut that follows the shape of the interior text block module (and of the book’s own format). This cut acts as a frame for the texts, and the same graphic solution was adopted for the visual identity of the exhibitions at the Instituto Moreira Salles in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

On the interior pages, the typographic hierarchy is inverted: the main text is set in a bold sans-serif font, while the titles use a serif font. This choice emphasizes the graphic weight of the text areas and reinforces the publication’s visual identity.

The film stills from the works are arranged in sequence, interrupted only by the trim of the page. The same treatment is applied to the book’s exterior: despite the hardcover, the edges are also trimmed by a three-sided cut. The cover material references the acoustic panels present in the artist’s installations, and the information was printed in glossy screen printing to create a contrast with the matte surface.
