The photobook is the result of an artist residency in Beijing, carried out in partnership with the Rosewood Hotel and organized by Editions Bessard, an independent publisher based in Paris. During this period, the photographer engaged closely with the everyday life of Chinese society, in addition to participating in and presenting her work at conferences at the Three Shadows Photography Art Center.
Conceived in chromatic chapters, the project features images printed on transparent papers that overlap, creating new visual readings. The book offers the photographer’s personal, poetic interpretation of key themes in contemporary China: the interplay between past and present, the unique coexistence of the artificial and the natural, and the contrast between severe pollution and everyday life in Beijing. The photobook’s design amplifies this narrative through the careful use of layering and materials, creating an immersive experience that echoes the complexity of the subject matter.
