The graphic design of George Orwell’s 1984 is based on the idea of surveillance and control to create an object whose materiality reflects tension and ambiguity. The holographic cover, which shifts according to the incidence of light, establishes a visual dialogue with the book’s themes, suggesting a surface that both observes and is observed.

The black ribbon marker, with the author’s name embroidered in white, acts as a discreet detail, integrating Orwell’s presence into the very physical essence of the book.
