uns e outros

Inspired by the play of mirroring between classic and contemporary authors devised by the organizers, the graphic design uses elements typical of the book universe to articulate this relationship on both the cover and the interior.

The names of the eighteen authors share the same space–partly on the back cover and partly on the front cover–their forms deconstructed into a nearly abstract typographic design. These names and their mirrored counterparts are only revealed on the title pages, which reproduce, inside the book, the same arrangement from the cover, finally rendered legible. For the texts, a different typeface was chosen for each pair of authors–as if there were ten distinct books within one.

Details such as hot stamping, embossing, uncoated gray dyed-through paper on the cover, silver ink printed endpapers, and a ribbon bookmark contribute to the book’s tactile and three-dimensional experience. These elements engage directly with the text’s structure, reinforcing the singularity of the graphic design.
